As the leader of the opposition, Alexis Tsipras had declared last December that he was against the “all inclusive” type of charging adopted by many resorts in Greece. The reason stated was that “this type of charging is based on the “memorandum (mnimoniako) model of tourism which is backed-up by large tourist resort chains”.
Outcome: On January 29, the new Minister for Tourism, Elena Kountoura, stated:
“There will be no action against the all-inclusive products. On the contrary, through the qualitative improvement of such products, benefits will be disseminated towards the local markets and society.”
