Military parades are non-existent for most parts of the civilized world.   And for good reason.  Why should a sovereign country “show-off” its military equipment, land/sea/air fleet and troops? For morale boost? Against whom?

In Greece military parades take place twice a year. One on 25 March (anniversary of the Greek revolution commencement, commemorating the independence war against the Ottoman Empire during the 1820’s) and one on 28 October (anniversary of the rejection of the ultimatum imposed by the Italian fascist government in 1940).

SYRIZA, being a radical left party, was entirely against parades:

SYRIZA shall abolish parades

Outcome: On 25 March 2015, a glorious military parade took place in the center of Athens with many SYRIZA MPs, including Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, waving the troops from the VIP box. There must be a moral story here, but apparently we are missing it.
